   A strong brown or black animal with a large body and long, rough fur.

   Korean definition: 몸집이 크고 힘이 세며 털이 길고 거친, 갈색이나 검은색인 동물.

   • 동물원에 가면 호랑이, 사자, 곰 등의 동물을 볼 수 있다.

     At the zoo, you can see animals like tigers, lions and bears.

   • 단군 신화에서 곰은 쑥과 마늘을 먹으면서 백 일 동안 버텨 사람이 된다.

     In the Dangun myth, a bear endures for a hundred days eating mugwort and garlic and becomes human.

   (teasing) A person who acts slowly and foolishly.

   Korean definition: (놀리는 말로) 행동이 느리고 미련한 사람.

   • 민준이는 행동이 너무 느려서 사람들이 곰이라고 부른다.

     Minjun is so slow in everything he does that people call him a bear.

   • 내 동생은 겉보기에는 여우같이 영악해 보이지만 사실 곰같이 미련한 데가 있다.

     My younger sibling looks as cunning as a fox on the outside, but is actually as dim-witted as a bear in some ways.
